After launching in 2019, Disney+ is home to a catalogue of movies including those created by Marvel Studios. The success of the platform has also allowed for original series to premiere on the streaming service. Marvel Studios first venture into this has come with the bizarre show, WandaVision. With the show providing fans of Marvel a different viewing experience the possibilities are endless of what can be produced on Disney+. A direction that Marvel Studios could take is by developing spin-off shows based on side characters. The Baby Groot series, which was announced at the start of the year looks like it could be the first of these spin-off shows, but the possibilities of what could be produced are endless. Here are 10 pitches of what spin-off shows we want to see on Disney+.

1. Jimmy Woo / X-Files:

ree

On the back of the success WandaVision is seeing, many fans have fallen in love with the skilled magician Jimmy Woo (Randall Park). This has actually led to fans asking for a Jimmy Woo spin-off and actor Stephen Ford is in the process of pitching the idea to Marvel Studios.

If the show does happen, then what we would love to see is Jimmy work through some peculiar paranormal cases simular to the X-Files. This would fit perfectly after WandaVision which has introduced Jimmy into the world of super powered individuals more than ever before.

After WandaVision, Jimmy could set up his own branch of the FBI which would tackle cases that the FBI cannot make sense of. The possibilities for this series are endless and the more outlandish the cases are would make for great viewing. Balancing the comedy of Jimmy and the supernatural element of the cases would provide something new to the MCU. Nobody can dispute the love Jimmy Woo has right now, so capitalising on that would make perfect sense.

2. X-Con Security Consultants / Brooklyn Nine-Nine:

ree

Introduced during Ant-Man, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Luis (Michael Pena) founded the company X-Con Security Consultants after they were released from prison. Designed to be a legal entity, it would be fun to explore how the company runs without bending the law.

Obviously it would be hard for Scott Lang to appear especially as most of his time during the MCU has been spent either in a cell or on house arrest. This would mean the show would focus on the time when Scott was on house arrest and Luis took temporary charge.

With Kurt (David Dastmalchian) and Dave (T.I.), Luis would try and secure work for the company and the dynamic would be similar to the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine. This would mean the series will be comedic and we would learn a more about the friends of Ant-Man. The series could also provide the explanation as to why the company nearly went out of business in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

3. Warriors Three / Game of Thrones:

ree

I am not saying a spin-off show based on the Warriors Three from Asgard will be anywhere near the level of Game of Thrones, instead the theme of medieval battles and magical entities would be a common trend from both shows. This theme would be fitting of Asgard’s finest warriors and would explore a genre which has only been briefly highlighted in the Thor movies.

After Thor: Ragnarok, the Warriors Three were killed by Hela (Cate Blanchett) which means the series would have to be set before then. The absence of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) would also have to be considered which makes the time between Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok the perfect time to explore the adventures the Warriors Three get up to.

With Loki (Tom Hiddleston) impersonating Odin (Anthony Hopkins) on the throne of Asgard, the series would focus on wild missions that the Warriors Three have been sent on, in order for Loki to protect himself on the throne. These missions could lead to danger and epic medieval battles, while also providing another layer to the story on Asgard.

4. Maria Rambeau / Covert Affairs:

ree

With the introduction of an older Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Paris) in WandaVision, her character has a clear admiration for her mother. During the series we learn that Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch) was a founding member of S.W.O.R.D. This would be an interesting story to explore, with the plot centralising on how Monica came through the ranks, while also being a single mum.

Like the show Covert Affairs, a strong female lead will solve cases. The Maria Rambeau version will include cases for S.W.O.R.D. The series can also explore how Maria fought back against gender roles of the time period and how she gained the position she had. Cameos from Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Taylor Haywood (Josh Stamberg) would also be interesting for the series, as both men grew to be influential men of power.

However the heart of the series will follow the relationship between Maria and Monica, a story which would provide more context to the character of Maria Rambeau. An explanation regarding Captain Marvel’s (Brie Larson) absence could also be explained as well as clearer a much clearer knowledge of what happened after Captain Marvel.

5. Ravagers / Sons of Anarchy:

ree

Introduced during Guardians of the Galaxy, the Ravagers are a space crime syndicate that are split into different factions. A series exploring new factions would be a welcomed addition to the MCU. Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2 explored the code of the Ravagers in more detail and what happens when you break it. However, what would happen if a faction went further and went fully rouge.

Sons of Anarchy follows rival motorcycle gangs, which is what could happen with the Ravagers. New characters would be introduced to tell a completely new story, a story that would increase our knowledge of the crime syndicate that Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) was raised in.

If a faction went rouge and caused chaos in the crime syndicate then it could be left to a new hero to stop the faction from tearing the group apart. The series can be both serious and funny like the Guardians movies which have been very successful. A cameo from the Guardians would also be fun to see and connect the series to the MCU.

6. Happy Hogan / After Life:

ree

After Life is a series that explores a man’s grief after he loses his wife. The show is not only sad but also widely hilarious. With the death of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) still on everyone minds, Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) is someone that the death will have affected more than most.

Happy lost his best friend and his boss who he has worked for most of his life. It would be interesting to explore how Happy coped with his best friend’s death. We saw Happy in Spider-Man: Far From Home which was 8 months after Tony’s death. What would show Happy’s grief and how everyone felt after Avengers: Endgame would be a story focusing around a month after the funeral.

After Tony’s death Happy would be lost and depressed. The series would be a redemption story around Happy and how he picks himself up after his loss. Like After Life the series would be serious as it tackles the issue of death, but like Marvel content the show would also be humorous and fun with Happy searching for his new purpose.

7. Midtown High School / Gossip Girl:

ree

We know that Midtown High School is a Sony property rather than Disney’s but a show based on the school would be a fun addition to Disney+ if the studios could make a deal. If a deal was made then a teen drama could appear in the MCU.

With Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and his friends approaching the end of high school, the series would be based around the characters we have been introduced to in the Spider Man movies. The series would explore the dynamic of the school and the traditionally hierarchy system that schools have.

The lead of the series could also be a new character providing us with a fresh perspective. They would be central to understanding the school dynamic and what goes on and like most teen dramas the plot will be based on romance and young love. No matter what the plot is though, the series being based around Spider-Man’s school would mean that the references to the wall crawler would be common.

8. Agent 13 / Homeland:

ree

Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) is possibly one of the most underappreciated characters within the MCU. This is set to change with her inclusion in the Falcon and The Winter Soldier Disney+ show. However a separate show based on Sharon working with the CIA would be a perfect spy thriller series for Disney+ and the MCU.

After Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Sharon Carter began working for the CIA. The series would likely follow on to what happens at the end of Falcon and The Winter Soldier but would include Sharon going undercover and working complicated cases. We know she is willing to bend the rules to do the right thing, so we could expect Sharon to go against orders to get the job done.

The plot would also be more Earth based and focus on Sharon taking down criminals and organisations, potentially even restabilising certain groups. Who Sharon takes down would link to the comics and appearances from heroes and villains would help make the show feel part of the wider MCU.

9. Wakandian War Dogs / Top Boy:

ree

Recent news has confirmed that Black Panther director Ryan Coogler’s company Proximity Media have agreed a 5 year exclusive television deal with Disney+. This means we can expect shows about the great nation of Wakanda. One series that would be completely different from the marvel norm is a show based on the Wakandian War Dogs.

War Dogs from Wakanda are intelligence services that make sure Wakanda remains safe. However, as Black Panther showed the War Dogs believe that Wakanda should do more to tackle problems facing people of African descent. A series focusing on the moral struggle of the War Dogs would be fantastic viewing and would help tackle issues in society today.

Moreover the show can take inspiration from Top Boy which is show that is based around a borough in London that has a high black demographic. The show is gritty and highlights the problems with society in London. Something as equally gritty based around the War Dogs across the globe would shine a light on social problems while also being an entertaining drama set in the MCU.

10. Korg and Miek / Two and a Half Men:

ree

Everyone enjoyed the introduction of Korg (Taika Waititi) and Miek in Thor: Ragnarok and that love grew even more after Avengers: Endgame. Korg playing Fortnight was arguably the funniest part of the entire movie, so a show based on the Kronan and the insect cyborg would be truly hilarious.

Like Two and a Half Men the show would be a comedy and focus on the pair’s life. The obvious question fans have over the pair was how they managed to get to New Asgard. The show could explore this but the success would come with how Korg and Miek get along on Earth. Cameos from Thor and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) would add to the show’s comedy.

The plot for the series wouldn’t even need to be serious. The show would just thrive on fun stories about how the pair adapt to a new planet. It would also be funny to see how humans react to a menacing rock speaking like a Kiwi. No matter what happens in the series, the humour that Taika Waititi has would be enough to make the show a favourite amongst the marvel fan base.
