Having a Great-Aunt with the reputation of Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), Agent 13, Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) always had big shoes to fill. Even though she did a good job of keeping her identity hidden there is no doubts that every mission that Sharon was assigned on she would want to make Peggy proud. This is one of the reasons that she joined S.H.E.I.L.D. which allowed to her to meet the love of her Auntie, Captain America (Chris Evans). As weird as the kiss the two shared during Captain America: Civil War was, the smooch did show that Sharon like her Aunt had fallen for Cap while having a lot of admiration for him. Deciding to help Cap during Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War showed that her admiration for the first Avenger was paired with her strong moral code because she was willing to do what was right, even if her actions result in consequences. With the upcoming Disney+ show Falcon and The Winter Soldier releasing in March, the role of Sharon will play is unknown, but we expect her to continue being a badass agent while doing what she thinks is right.
Great-Aunt Peggy:

A lynchpin to what motivates Sharon is the role her Aunt Peggy played in her life. Beautifully spoken at her funeral, Sharon opened up about how she always idolised the founding member of S.H.E.I.L.D. As she talks about Peggy, it’s clear to see that words spoken to her as a child from her aunt stuck with Sharon throughout her life. One of the key lessons that Peggy taught her niece was how to succeed as a women in a role traditionally suited for men. Standing your ground no matter your gender is something which Peggy passed down to Sharon and is one of the reasons that she is the embodiment of her Aunt in the modern world. We have seen Sharon bravely do her duty, she engaged in combat with the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) and standoff with Brock Rumlow (Frank Grillo). Actions like this are what made Peggy such a respected operative during the Second World War.
Not only are the similarities between the Carter’s clear throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but both share a similar relationships with Steve Rogers. Peggy was the one true love of Cap but the romance between Cap and a Carter didn’t stop there. Even though Sharon and Cap only shared a brief kiss it was clear that the pair had feelings akin to Peggy and her eventual husband. As awkward as the kiss was it does prove that Sharon was reaching the level of respect and affection that Cap had for Peggy, something which is what motivated Sharon to become an agent of S.H.E.I.L.D.
Strong Moral Code:

Earning the respect of Captain America means that your morals and actions should always aim to do what is right, even if it is easier to do nothing. Sharon is a perfect personification of this as she proved to have an unavoidable moral compass. During Captain America: The Winter Soldier she is one of the first agents that offers resistance to Hydra. Once again in Captain America: Civil War she aids Cap and Bucky because she trusts they are doing what is morally right even though the risk she takes could cost her career.
This character trait is exciting to see. Sharon is not a typical ‘yes-man’; instead she is willing to take the harder option for the betterment of everyone else even if it affects her. Having this trait once again shows the influence that Peggy had on her as a child, but the influence that Cap will have had on Sharon will also be an important trigger for the actions that she takes throughout her career.
What will we see next?

With Falcon and The Winter Soldier releasing in less than a month, we can now start speculating what each character will embark on. Sharon seems like she will play a similar role to the one she played in Captain America: Civil War, with her being a source of information for the shows leading heroes. This will continue the theme of her moral code which no doubt will become stronger after the retirement of Steve Rogers as Captain America. Now Sharon will have both Peggy and Cap to make proud, so we don’t expect Sharon to take the easy option at any point during the series.
Moreover trailers have teased more action from Sharon, which looks much the same as Agent 13 in the comics. If we get a closer portrayal to the comics then the action scenes Sharon partakes in will increase, with her potentially suiting up with Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and The Winter Soldier. This would be a good evolution for her character as there is no doubt that in Sharon’s mind that she still has a long way to live up to Peggy’s reputation. Engaging in battle with Avengers would be a mammoth step for her being considered on the level of the great Peggy Carter
