We are less than 24 hours away from the season finale for Falcon and The Winter Soldier and we are extremely excited to see how the eye-opening series will conclude. There are still a number of stories to wrap and many more stories which no doubt will be set up in the final episode. With that in mind we are going to use our nerd brains to come up with 10 predictions we think could happen in the finale. Just a word of warning before we begin, we don’t have the best track record in our predictions so do not expect every prediction to come true.

Sam Wilson will become the new Captain America:

ree

Easily the most obvious prediction on this list is that Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) will become the new Captain America. The entire show has showcased Sam’s journey to become the new star spangled man and we think the final episode will finally give us this moment. Also, the fact Sam has been given a Wakandian case which we can assume will have a Captain America style suit inside further hypes up him taking up the mantle. We are just praying that we get to see Sam fly into New York in red, white and blue ready for his first mission as Cap.

Moreover, a nice touch to this moment would be Bucky (Sebastian Stan) announcing Sam as Captain America just like he did during Captain America: The First Avenger when Steve Rogers returned from enemy lines with rescued prisoners of war. If this happened I think everyone watching would scream as we finally have the suitable replacement to Steve Rogers.

Bucky will give Yori his closure:

ree

We first met Yori Nakajima (Ken Takemoto) in the first episode of the series and it was quickly understood by fans that Bucky killed his son during his time working for Hydra as the Winter Soldier. During the first episode we also got to understand that Yori still misses his son and Bucky is trying to atone for killing him by helping Yori.

However, after receiving some tough love from Sam, Bucky knows that he needs to give Yori closure and explain what happened to his son in order to fully atone for his actions. We expect this scene to happen because of how the 1st episode set it up, but what is going to be an emotional scene is watching how both Bucky and Yori break down when the truth comes out. We are just hoping that Yori doesn’t cast out Bucky as we hope he can see past his past life like most people have.

The Power Broker will not be revealed:

ree

One of the most intriguing parts of the series in its earlier episodes was the identity of the Power Broker. Firstly, I would like to emphasize the fact that the Power Broker cannot be Sharon Carter (Emily Van Camp) because of his existence before Captain America: Civil War when Sharon worked for the CIA. As such the Power Broker would have to be a new character for the series which seems a little late in the series for a big reveal his true identity.

Other theories on who the Power Broker in Madripoor could be suggest it could Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt) or Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) However, we think these characters are set for different paths within the MCU. As such any reveal of the Power Broker would likely be a new character and with only 1 episode any reveal would take away from the action in New York.

Instead, the cloud of mystery of who the Power Broker is could remain and become a question on many fans lips for many years to come until he is revealed. This would keep an intriguing storyline going under the radar and a future reveal would be much more impactful and make the series in hindsight look even better when we learn of whom financed the new super soldier serum and caused the problems in Madripoor and with Karli Morgenthau (Erin Kellyman).

Karli will be the only Flag Smasher to survive:

ree

The group known as the Flag Smashers have divided fan opinion. Despite this, a common theme with the group is that those enhanced from the group keep dying with the latest being at the hands of John Walker (Wyatt Russell). This is a theme we expect to continue as with each death Karli witnesses her decent into darkness worsens. With her friends dying around her, she could turn even darker and become reckless in her mission which ultimately would see her captured.

With Karli being the only one to survive, for any future appearances from her there would be a much angrier side to the character as those she considered family died around her. This would add so much more to the Karli character and could see a change of motivation to fit with any later appearance she makes.

John Walker will kill again:

ree

We mentioned in the last point that we expect a number of the Flag Smashers to perish. What we also expect to happen is that the deaths to be at the hands of John Walker. Why we think this is the case is due to the new purpose Walker has after seeing his high school friend and partner Lemar Hoskins (Cle Bennett) die at the hands of the group.

Furthermore, Walker lied to Lemar’s parents about killing the person responsible. As such knowing the relationship he had to Lemar and his parents Walker will be thinking his mission isn’t complete and he can’t honour his friend’s memory until the entire Flag Smashers group is killed. After crafting his own shield in episode 5’s credits we know Walker will be making an appearance in the finale and with no government strings holding him back it’s likely that the full ruthless version of John Walker will be on full display.

War Machine will appear:

ree

Before the series started streaming on Disney+ it was confirmed that Rhodey aka War Machine (Don Cheadle) would cameo in the series. We didn’t know to what expect from this cameo but from what we have seen so far from Rhodey it’s quite disappointing. Rhodey appeared in the first episode to discuss the Captain America mantle will Sam and we haven’t seen him since.

However, a cameo in the season finale does seem a likely possibility. Firstly, the final battle is set in New York which we know to be the home of many heroes to it wouldn’t be too drastic to assume Rhodey would be nearby. Also, with the GRC debating the controversial Patch Act it would be stupid of the council to not have some protection nearby in case of an attack. Without John Walker as Captain America it would seem likely that War Machine could be the next call. In Iron Man 3 we saw Rhodey take a similar job as the Iron Patriot so something simular could happen in the finale. Pretty much we just want to see War Machine in action again and for this to happen in Falcon and The Winter Soldier’s finale would be pretty epic to witness.

Sharon Carter will not receive a pardon:

ree

Despite Emily Van Camp saying that Sharon is “very much seeking that pardon”, we don’t expect it to happen. We also don’t really know the full extent of Sharon’s role in the series and she has been someone in the background pulling all the strings. We know she isn’t the Power Broker so the question is what her true involvement in the series is.

After episode 5 we started to see a clearer picture of Sharon Carter as when on call to someone we assume to be Batroc (Georges St-Pierre) she has helped the Flag Smashers. Actions like this doesn’t make Sharon seem trustworthy and if details of the call come out this would just make her the enemy of the state even more and that pardon she wants would not appear.
