Will John Walker complete his mission?

With John Walker (Wyatt Russell) officially being stripped of his title as Captain America there is many questions about his involvement in the series finale of Falcon and The Winter Soldier. After the credit scene in the latest episode we know that he is planning on a return to action with the reason being to finish the mission he began with his dead partner Lemar Hoskins (Cle Bennett).

When we ask the question of whether John will finish his mission we have to take a look at why he wants to. In episode 4 when Lemar was killed we got to see the darker side of Walker as he killed a member of the Flag Smashers in cold blood. Without justifying his actions we can understand the emotion Walker would have felt. This is the emotion which is still boiling inside him and has only been doubled since he was removed from his position as Captain America which he felt wasn’t justified.

When Walker went to visit Lemar’s parents, which he will have known since high school, he lied to them. The lie he told them was that he killed the person that took Lemar’s life. However, it was Karli Morgenthau (Erin Kellyman) who was responsible for his death and she is very much alive. But with the words Lemar’s parents left Walker with there would have been a great deal of regret on Walker’s part as he didn’t kill Karli. This is something which he will want to complete so in his mind he can honour his fallen friend and the wishes of his parents. The credit scene saw Walker craft his own Captain America shield which is a scary thought when you consider the number of threats which are at play in the upcoming finale.

However, if we look at whether Walker will kill Karli this doesn’t look likely. We expect he will give it a good effort but for the character of Walker to fail at the mission which will mean so much for him could cause him to become even more unhinged in the future. Moreover, for Sam (Anthony Mackie) to let Walker kill Karli on his first mission with the Captain America shield would be a big failure a may cause his appointment as the new Captain America to fall flat.

No matter what happens in the finale we expect Walker to show off his new side and only have one goal in mind, the death of Karli Morgenthau. This will surely cause chaos on the streets of New York something that I am and many other fans are struggling to wait for.
